Huge Luristan Bronze Armlet

[ translate ]

**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran and eastern Turkey, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A nice armlet of a hefty and wearable form shaped from a section of thick bronze rod. The annular accessory features smooth surfaces and flattened terminals that were perhaps attached via a central bar or wire at one time. Though this accessory is wearable, it was perhaps recommissioned from being a handle for a chest, vessel, or container of private goods. Thick layers of brown, green, and russet patina have formed over the surfaces to make this an attractive example of ancient fashion! Size (bracelet): 5.1" W x 4.75" H (13 cm x 12.1 cm); (wrist gap): 0.7" W (1.8 cm); (interior opening): 3.8" W (9.7 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, acquired before 2000

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent increases of shipments being seized by Australian & German customs (even for items with pre-UNESCO provenance), we will no longer ship most antiquities and ancient Chinese art to Australia & Germany. For categories of items that are acceptable to ship to Australia or Germany, please contact us directly or work with your local customs brokerage firm.

Display stands not described as included/custom in the item description are for photography purposes only and will not be included with the item upon shipping.

#160438
Condition Report: Wearable as shown. Minor nicks and abrasions, with light encrustations in scattered areas, otherwise intact and very good. Great patina throughout.
