[ translate ]

A commemorative black satin bomber jacket related to the 1980 Playboy Jazz Festival.

The uni-sex acetate teddy jacket shows a custom embroidered design at the back reading, "PLAYBOY JAZZ FESTIVAL1980," featuring the iconic Playboy bunny logo. On the chest of the left side of the jacket "Hef" is embroidered with red thread. There is a zip closure at the front, two diagonal welt pockets, red piped seams, and with knit-ribbed collar and cuffs; the interior has a bright red jewel tone lining matching the exterior lettered embroidery. The label on the interior reads "LP Designs by Mary Bassel," with no size label present. The jacket is in good condition, with a 14.5-inch seam split on the left sleeve.

Founded in 1959 by Hefner, The Playboy Jazz Festival became an annual event that showcased seasoned and up-and-coming jazz musicians. After beginning as a one-time event in Chicago in 1959, the Festival was then brought to the Hollywood Bowl in 1979 after Hefner settled in Los Angeles at Playboy Mansion West. This particular festival year (1980) broke multiple records in Hollywood Bowl and Southern California history including the largest attendance at a jazz festival and the most number of programs sold at a two-day event.

LP Designs by Mary Bessel started in 1978 and produced custom embroidered garments for concert tours, film, television, theater productions, and companies with branded logos.
