Corto Maltese - Time for a Cigarette, 1977

Information
silkscreen on thin cardboard
70 x 70 cm
Color serigraph part of the portfolio "Corto Maltese - Il Tempo di una Cigaretta", limited to 100 copies numbered in Arabic numeral (our copy no. 87/100) published by Edizioni Multigraphic in 1977. During the printing of this legendary portfolio the Multigraphic publishing house in Venice suffered flooding due to high water, due to this very few silk-screen prints survived. After the Brr.. Brrr experience! in which he played with decompositions of the Canadian Redcoats, Pratt returns to the theme of abstraction originating from the comic sign, giving us this suite dedicated to the Corto Maltese blouse. As in the Grenadiers, Pratt's research starts from exploring some widely recognizable details to arrive at minimalist and totally abstract graphics inspired by Mondrian and Lichtenstein. Slight yellowing of the paper at the edges. Signed in pencil by Pratt and numbered.
