pencil, watercolors and pastels on brown paper

Original illustration made by Pratt for the "Dossier Djibouti, " a collection of images in which the Master of Malamocco, the man of ink drawings and black marks as thick and dense as bitumen, reveals himself as fluid, open, and ethereal, almost adolescent, as he sketches distant landscapes and men in uniform, perhaps reminiscent of his childhood in the Horn of Africa following his family to Abyssinia. This illustration was published in the volume Periplo Immaginario on page 165 by Lizard in 2005.
