Flying a Sopwith Camel on a routine mission on August 12, 1918, he was shot down behind enemy lines by Lothar Von Richthofen, brother and fellow ace of The Red Baron, Manford. Summers was released from the German prison camp in December of 1918 and was commissioned captain in August of 1919, the war having ended in November of 1918 so this was his revolver that was inscribed to him after the wars end. Summers scored eight kills and was awarded the military cross. Luther had an even more illustrious career scoring 40 kills of which Summers was his last. His brother, the Red Baron was killed four months earlier. Comes with an original leather holster and a booklet of information. Great and historic rig . C&R*
