IDENTIFIED 19TH C. WHALING SHIP'S CHART BOX
Green Painted Pine Box with hinged lid, iron hasp and end lifts, lettered with identification "Bark Peri, NBF" (New Bedford), 11" x 36" x 12". Lightly worn. The whaling ship 'Peri' was built in Eastport, ME in 1832 and sailed out of New Bedford beginning in 1840. She made nine voyages the last departing in 1860. She was sold at Mauritius in 1863.
