PHILIP II, KING OF SPAIN. 1527-1598. Carta ejecutoria of King Phillip II of Spain. Valladolid: 1589.
Manuscript on vellum, in Spanish, 300 x 225 mm. 40 leaves bound as a single quire of 20 bifolia. Collation: i40, the first two and last two leaves treated as flyleaves. 36 long lines, written in black ink in round Spanish script, between 38 horizontal and two pairs of vertical bounding lines ruled in red, written area: 205 x 125 mm. Major section titles in gold ink on solid green and red grounds; lesser section titles introduced by cadel initials; calligraphic flourishes in upper and lower margins; full-page illumination facing the first text page, including miniature of the recipient's family adoring the Virgin and child and two armorials. (Minor discoloration to margins; minor worm damage to first two and last two leaves.) Original Spanish binding of gold-tooled black leather, four pairs of green silk ties, sewn with the original two-color silk cord (seal missing).

Patent of nobility granted to Hernan Goncalez. With several notarial attestations at the end.
