IMPRESSIVE CHINESE CARVED CINNABAR DRAGON BOX, 19TH C. Comprising a large and impressive finely carved cinnabar and lacquer dragon box. The imposing box with squared corners and the top of lid deeply carved with five individual five clawed dragons and flaming pearl amidst clouds atop a wave carved ground. The eight side panels similarly carved with five claw dragons and the base banded with repeating geometric pattern. The overfitting lid opening to reveal a deep black lacquered interior divided into seven individual compartments of various sizes. 18 inches x 18 inches x 5 inches (45.6 x 45.6 x 12.5 cm). A very fine specimen.
