C. 3rd millennium BC. Indus Valley Civilisation. Painted terracotta vessel. Spherical shaped body with corseted spout and nicely painted with traditional geometric motifs in black, yellow and orange. The Indus Valley Civilisation was an important Bronze Age culture which arose in c. 3300 BC and lasted until c. 1300, though its heyday, to which these kind of ceramic vessels belong, was in the 3rd millennium BC. Large numbers of ceramic decorated vessels have been found among the sophisticated urban settlements of South Asia's protohistoric Indus Valley civilization.
