A piece of armor designed to protect the forearm, this “Bazuband” defensive armguard is decorated on its surface with depictions of battles as well as arabesque plant motifs. Worn during theatrical performances of the ta’ziyeh or taziyeh (Ashura). Late 19th–early 20th century. 30x10 cm.
