The warp is probably silk, the weft cotton, and the pile wool. The carpet is adorned with a polychrome central medallion, flanked by two pendants, set against an ivory ground enhanced by an elegant stylised floral design on a navy blue counter-ground. A wide border featuring multicoloured floral motifs is framed by four counter-borders. The carpet is signed in one of the counter-borders.Central Persia, circa 1940–1980.250 x 158 cm.
