LIONS OF NECTANEBO

bronze, on wood bases with gilt metal mounts
bronzes: 8.5 by 22.5cm., 3⅜ by 8⅞in. each
bases: 8.5 by 28cm., 3⅜ by 11in.

Condition Report:
Overall the condition of the bronzes is good, with some wear and dirt to the surfaces consistent with age, including dust throughout. There is dryness to the lacquer patina, with some flaking and minor surface abrasions. There is rubbing to the patina at the high points. There appears to be a lacuna or loss to one of the lions' gender. The lions are attached to the bases with metal nails inserted into the front paws and tails. There is some white paint residue to one of the lions' haunches.
There is wear to the wood bases consistent with age, notably open joints. The joints of one of the bases are slightly unstable.
