ITALIAN COPPER BRONZE REPOUSSE AND CHASED CHARGER RELATING TO THE ALBANI FAMILY 17TH CENTURY the central boss bears the Albani family crest of three mountains surmounted with a star, the centre of the charger with four panels depicting battle scenes, the rim with three panels depicting seige scenes of fortified cities, the panels of decoration are interspersed with classical figures, cherubs, masks, and angels in the Renaissance style, the letters S.P.Q.R, referring to 'The Senate and People of Rome' are inscribed on various banners and flags within the panels of decoration, along with the names 'L. AMELIO', 'ALESAN', 'DARIO' (51cm diam)
