Published by Her Majestys Stationery Office, Butler and Tanner Ltd., London in 1964. Red hardcover with gilt titles. Volumes I and II contain articles and catalog entries, volume III consists of 736 illustrations on 426 plates. The catalogs come in original pictorial slipcase. Sir John Wyndham Pope-Hennessy, 1913 to 1994, was a British art historian who specialized in Renaissance art. He was Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum between 1967 and 1973, and Director of the British Museum between 1974 and 1976.
