The latest IWC “Laureus Sport for Good Foundation” special edition is already the eighth in the series. And, once again, the colour of hope for disadvantaged children is blue: the unmistakable Laureus blue found on the dial of the Portuguese Chronograph Classic. Water-resistant to 3 bar, the watch is fitted with the rugged IWC-manufactured 89361 calibre and features a flyback function, an imprint at the edge of the dial with a quarter-second scale for measuring periods up to a minute and an analogue display in a subdial for keeping track of times longer than a minute. In 2013, IWC Schaffhausen organized another children’s drawing competition throughout all the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation projects in accordance with a revered tradition. The subject of this year’s competition, “Time to play”, encouraged many children and adolescents worldwide to submit entries. The jury chose the drawing by 16-year-old Masha Nikulina from the Russian Federation. Her artistically ambitious picture shows happy children skiing and playing around in the snow. The winning design is engraved on the back of the case. The engraving is a reminder that some of the sales proceeds are destined to help Laureus Sport for Good Foundation projects in some of the world’s most problematic regions.
