Ian Pyper b.1955 Cat & Butterfly Drawings 2pc LOT
Ian Pyper (British, born 1955), lot of two framed ink drawings on paper rendered in black and red. The first frame presents two drawings together, one on pink paper and one on gold-toned paper, filled with stylized faces, a whiskered cat, starbursts,a potted branch and patterned forms within hatched borders. Each bears an artist monogram and the date "11" in pencil lower right. The second, on white paper, depicts a butterfly composed of heart-shaped faces within a dashed red border, titled lower left "Butterfly with Faces #3" with an artist monogram and the date "09" lower right. Executed in a naive Outsider Art style with dense pattern and stitched outlines. Verso of each frame retains a Joy Moos Gallery label. Each presented under glazing in a black frame. The two sheets in the larger frame each measure approximately 7.5" x 9.5"; the single sheet has an approximate sight size of 6" x 8". Frames measure approximately 17.5" x 13.5" x 0.5" and 8.5" x 11".
Condition: Good overall condition with typical to mild surface wear. The frames exhibit normal storage wear along the edges and corners. The works have not been examined outside of the frames.
