Ica Polychrome Vessel w/ Applied Frogs
Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Ica culture, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. An attractive pottery vessel with a round but stable base, a spherical body with a sloped shoulder, and a wide spout with a flared lip. The highly burnished vessel displays a pair of broad rectangular panels that are filled with linear and geometric motifs in hues of white, red-orange, grey, and black, and two petite frogs are splayed out atop white-painted trapezoidal panels. Size: 7.375" W x 7.6" H (18.7 cm x 19.3 cm)

Condition Report: Repair to small area of rim with chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Loss to one frog head as shown. Minor abrasions and nicks to base, body, frogs, and rim, with fading to original pigmentation, and light encrustations. Light earthen deposits and nice traces of original pigment throughout.
