Icon - Boris and Gleb - Bronze
Bronze icon depicting the two murdered prince sons Boris and Gleb were the first national saints of Russia and were canonized as early as 1071 (memorial days: 2 May and 24. July) . On metal icons, they can usually be seen as a pair of warrior knights, although they are especially revered for having renounced the use of force against their assassins. Elder Boris rides with a sword in his hand, Gleb holds a banner with the cross as a sign of triumph.
