Western-Central Russian icon between 1800 and 1850. Shows the Mother of God “Joy of All Suffering”. It is an egg tempera on a chalk background on a wooden panel covered with a very well preserved golden lacquer. It depicts the Mother of God "The joy of all who grieve". In the center of the image is the Mother of God, surrounded by the needy helped by angels. Above, God the Father blessing above a bank of clouds. Measures 26. 2 x 22. 7 cm. . It was purchased at the Auktionshaus Wendl in Rudolstadt, Germany, one of the main world auctions of Orthodox icons. The original purchase documentation is available upon request.
