Antique Russian icon “Mother of God with three hands” from the 19th century. Hand-painted with egg tempera colours on chalk background and golden primer. Typical method of icon production in the 18th and 19th century tsarist Russia. Relatively detailed painting. Perfectly matched colour contrasts and accomplished shading. The icon was probably created around 1890 in central Russia. The icon and the saints are labelled. The inscriptions are clearly legible.
