Icon, St. Nicholas - Wood - Late 19th century
Antique Russian icon depicting St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, giving a blessing while holding the Gospel, on panel with engraved and embossed gold leaf coating. Frame in Venetian-style enamels typical of the late 19th century. On either side of the Saint, the Blessing Christ and the Madonna with the Veil of Protection. Preserved in very good condition, no restoration required. Excellent execution and fine details of the vestments and the face and beard of the Saint.
