Antique Russian icon "St. Sergius of Radonezh" from the 19th century (around 1890) . Hand-painted with egg tempera paints on a wooden panel with chalk ground.

Typical method of icon making in the 18th and 19th centuries in Tsarist Russia. The motif is rather rare and very popular in the Orthodox Church.

This is an Old Believer icon. The painting is done quite masterfully and in detail. Perfectly coordinated color contrasts and successful shades. The painting contains very authentic craquelures (see photos) .

Partial restorations have been made (see photos) . The face of the saint is particularly expressive and striking (see photos) . The saint is labeled. The labels are easy to read.

The icon is in good condition with typical signs of age-related wear (see photos) . There is a small horizontal crack in the painting in the upper half of the icon (see photos) . Pretty much on the face of the saint.
