Icon - Ten Saints - Wood
A unique, authentic dated vintage Orthodox wooden panel icon from 1971, combining shallow bas-relief wood carving (engraved contouring) and traditional hand-painting with gilded halo highlights.
The icon is systematically divided into six distinct registers/fields:
Top Section: Features Saints Cyril and Methodius holding a scroll displaying the early Glagolitic / Cyrillic alphabet, flanked by holy hierarchs and monks.
Bottom Section: Depicts Saint Evangelists / scribes seated at desks in the process of writing the sacred scriptures.
Key Features:
Authenticity: Signed and dated on the reverse by the artist (A. Savov '71) along with an authentic workshop stamp.
Craftsmanship: Carved on a single solid wooden board (30×28×1. 5 cm) .
