Icon, Three hierarchies - Wood - 19th century

Ancient and very authentic Russian icon with three saints from the 19th century. Depicted are St. Gregory" "St. Basil" and "St. John“ als Deesis. Above the saints, the Christ is depicted floating on a cloud. Hand-painted with egg tempera colour on a wooden panel with chalk background. Typical method of icon production in 18th and 19th century tsarist Russia. The painting is relatively detailed and finely executed. Perfectly matched colour contrasts and accomplished shading. All saints are labelled. The inscriptions are clearly legible. Partial restorations are present. The icon is in a satisfying condition with typical age-related signs of use in the form of scratches, paint chips and bumps as well as a burn spot from the candle (top right) . Solid and stable wooden panel. At the top and bottom are front sponkis inserted. All details are clearly visible in the photos. The photos are part of the description.
