A late 17th century two field icon from Central Russia. In the upper register an early iconography of the Mother of God " Joy of all who suffer". Central the Mother of God as a Byzantine princess surrounded by suffering people who plea for her help. This icon was venerated in Old Russia who people who seeked the help of the Holy Virgin to find the right partner. In the lower register the Birth of the Virgin Mary. In the lower left the meeting of Joachim and Anna at the Golden Gate in Jerusalem. In the center Anna in bed and midwives washing the baby. Right the happy parents with their daugther. This icon was venerated to ask for offspring. The icon is painted on a thick linden panel with a double kovceg ( outstanding border) . It has the usual wear and tear but is further in good condition.
