Igdir Chuval
first half 19th century, 84 x 111 cm, Central Asia, West Turkestan
This nine-gul Yomut chuval is probably a weaving by the Igdir subtribe. The style of drawing of the devices used in the border, which varies in colour between shades of blue and petrol, suggests great age. The reciprocal waves in the guard borders still have curled tips. Fine weave, luminous colours.
RIPPON BOSWELL, A 109, 29 November 2025, lot 12
Condition
Low pile. Upper finish reduced. Both sides backed with a textile band. No kilim back.
