Igdir Chuval
first half 19th century, 86 x 111 cm, Central Asia, West Turkestan
This nine-gul Yomut chuval presenting a spacious composition is probably a weaving by the Igdir subtribe. This is suggested by the characteristic secondary gul – a delicate cross composed of thin lines ending in tiny blossoms – as well as the reddish-brown ground colour and the fine weave. The ratio of height to width is an indication of its age.
RIPPON BOSWELL, A 109, 29 November 2025, lot 12
Condition
Pile in good condition. Cut sides, replaced selvedges. No kilim back.
