Ignazio Hugford, or Ignatius Heckford (1703-1778), was an Italian painter active mostly in Tuscany in an early Neoclassic style. Ignazio Hugford was born in Pisa, the son of a resident English watchmaker who worked for the House of Medici.

Hugford was at the age of 9 an apprentice with Anton Domenico Gabbiani. In 1745, he painted over a dozen canvases for the refectory of the Benedictine Abbey of Vallombrosa, where his brother, Ferdinando Enrico, became abbot. Hugford was also instrumental in the development of techniques for scagliola. Hugford joined the Accademia del Disegno of Florence, and published a biography on his mentor. He was also involved in designs for works in scagliola. Among his masterpieces in painting is the "Countess Matilde Donates her Riches to the Church" in the church of San Bartolommeo in Pantano in Pistoia. In the same Pistoiese church are canvasses of "St. Peter Crosses the Fire" and "Sant'Atto Receives the Relics of Sant'Jacopo". His "Tobias Returns Sight to his Father" (c.1741) can be found in the Church of Santa Felicita, Florence.

Hugford died in Florence. Nowadays he is more known as a critic, art scholar, and for his efforts as an agent for collectors. Among his pupils were Francesco Bartolozzi, Lamberto Cristiano Gori, Giovanni Battista Cipriani (Giuseppe Cipriani), and Sante Pacini. Bruce Cole; Ulrich Middeldorf. Masaccio, Lippi, or Hugford?]

Lorenzo Lippi (1606-1665) was an Italian painter and poet. [He should not be confused with the Quattrocento-Renaissance, father-son pair of Florentine painters Filippo and Filippino Lippi, or with Italian poet Lorenzo Lippi da Colle (1440-85)].

Born in Florence, he studied painting under Matteo Rosselli. Both Baldassare Franceschini and Francesco Furini were also apprenticed with Rosselli, the influence of whose style, and more especially of that of Santi di Tito, is to be traced in Lippi's works, which are marked by taste, delicacy and a strong turn for portrait-like naturalism. His maxim was to poetize as he spoke, and to paint as he saw. His biography was recounted by Filippo Baldinucci. After painting for some time in Florence, and having married at the age of forty the daughter of the rich sculptor named Giovanni Francesco Susini, Lippi went as court painter to Innsbruck, where he has left many excellent portraits. The most esteemed works of Lippi as a painter are a Crucifixion in the Uffizi gallery at Florence, and a Triumph of David which he executed for the salon of Angiolo Galli, introducing into it portraits of the seventeen children of the owner. Among his pupils is Bartolomeo Bimbi.
