Important Historical Persian Design Carpet, The White House, Owned by President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, ca. 1960's

Low dense silky wool pile on cotton foundation. Extra fine hand knotted semi-antique rug. Field with central complex multicolor medallion with extensions and floral palmettes designs on ruby red, ivory and blue background; complex corner guards; multiple borders with intricate serpentine and floral palmettes motifs on maroon-ruby red, blue and ivory background; original integral fringe at both ends, ca. 1960's.

Provenance: owned by President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, and was used in the White House during the administration of President Kennedy (ca. 1961-1963); acquired by descendants of President John Adams (the second President of the United States (1797-1801)) from Nazarian Bros. Inc., Washington 7, D.C. in 1965 for $2,575.00 (corresponding documentation and original receipts included).

Condition: Overall very good semi-antique condition, light sporadic wear, some transitional colors, possible old exposure to humidity.
