Important Signed Japanese Meiji Shibayama Kodansu
DESCRIPTION: A Meiji Period Nashiji Lacquer and Shibayama Kodansu cabinet, excellently decorated with detailed nature floral scenes and bird motifs with multicolored abalone shells, horn and other semi-precious materials. Mounted with solid silver carrying handles and fine engravings, the interior houses four richly lacquered graduated drawers fitted with silver gilt handles, further decorated along the interior with stylish lacquered work. The lacquer work completed by the artist listed in the Wrangham collections as Kashosai. Stamped along the underside.
