IMPORTANT AND SPLENDID QURAN.
Origin: Iran/Persia.
Date: Dated 1711 (later attributed).
Technique: Black and red ink with pigments and gold leaf on paper. Calligraphed covers with lacquer.
Description: Handwritten largely in Arabic Naschi script, headings in Thuluth script. A flyleaf, 301
pages with 14 lines of text each, partly with Persian translation in red between. Headings
with gold ground, at the margins partly with notes, furthermore inscribed gold cartouches
and keywords.
Measurement: Folio 11 ½ x 7 ¼in. - 29.1x18.3cm. Text panel 8 7/8 x 4 7/8in. - 22.6 x 12.4cm.
Signature: On the colophon: Copied by Ahmad al-Nayrizi, Iran.
Seal: Furthermore different owner signatures.
Condition A/B. Supplement: Foldable carved Quran stand from dark wood. Opened ca.30.5x29x19cm.
Some papers with smaller repairs, traces of age and use.
