IMPORTANT BUST OF THE BODHISATTVA AVALOKITESHVARA.
Origin: Khmer.
Date: Late 12th c.
Technique: Light rose colored sandstone.
Description: With a light smile in an expressive face with sensually wide lips and downcast eyes. The
hairstyle consists of numerous braids, which are combined to form a cylindrical shape on
the upper head, decorated in front a small figure of Buddha Amitabha.
Measurement: Height 30cm, width 17cm, depth 12cm.
Frame/Pedestal: On a metal base.
Condition A/B. Natural material crack on the forehead, both ear lobes broken off.
