Impressive Fossil Palm Frond – Framed Mural
Impressive Fossil Palm Frond – Framed Mural
Sabalites sp.
Eocene
Green River Formation Wyoming
A large 51-million-year-old fossil palm displays graceful natural composition and classic chocolate brown coloration within its limestone matrix. Known as one of the most aesthetically appealing types of fossils to be found in this geologic formation, the palm frond is considered a rare find due to the fragility of the fine cellulose of the leaf, which is subject to rapid decay. This is a superb specimen preserved in limestone which has been thinned to reduce weight. Framed in tropical walnut and fitted with a cleat system for ease of mounting on any wall of conventional construction. Measuring 76 x 57in
