Impressive Statue of Kinnara (126 cm) - Glass, Wood - Thailand - Second half 20th century

This impressive hand-carved wood sculpture is inlaid with glass and has paint throughout with a fine patina It is a unique piece with numerous pieces of inlaid glass which are still present and has beautiful colours all around With it's colours and impressive size (126 x 75 cm) it is suitable as a centrepiece and eyecatcher on a table or floor in any decor- including contemporary It has a weight of around 20 kilograms Still in good condition, minor wear as you can see. One minor age crack as you can see on the last picture Please note that this statue cannot be shipped because of it's size and weight and because it is vulnerable to damage, especially on the wings In Hindu mythology, a kinnara is a paradigmatic lover, a celestial musician, half-human and half-horse. In South-east Asia, two of the most beloved mythological characters are the benevolent half-human, half-bird creatures known as the Kinnara and Kinnari, which are believed to come from the Himalayas and often watch over the well-being of humans in times of trouble or danger
