Beautiful impressive Buddhist statue of Acala with Snake Japan, ca. 1800, Edo period Fudō Myō, 不動明王, the Immovable One-ō, is depicted as a warlike and wrathful deity which represent the power of Buddhism to overcome the passions. He has a furious, glaring face, carries a snake and stands on a rock (because Fudō is “immovable” in his faith) . A very rare Japanese wooden Buddhist statue in remarkable condition given the age.
