Artist : Attributed by a leading UK auction house as Attributed to Narcisse Virgilio Diaz De La Pena (French, 1807-1876) but being offered as in the circle of/follower of the artist due to no other provenance being made available to us with the auction documentation. The painting was acquired from Sw*****s auction house a highly reputable UK auction company with a specialist Fine Art department and was acquired with the attribution being published as such see letter in the photo's. We will supply a copy of the attribution correspondence upon request to the successful bidder. A Spanish guitarist oil on panel 29 x 23cm with the frame overall dimension being 44 cm x 36 cm x 5 cm Condition report: Oil on panel. The panel is formed from a single board . The wooden support and paint layers are in a good condition overall. The varnish layer is very yellowed and dull. The frame has suffered from wear and losses across the surface as photos illustrate . The painting would benefit from professional restorers clean but there is no apparent paint loss or any other obvious restoration work required other than perhaps a re-gilding and some intervention to the frame . There is a very slight ( virtually unnoticeable) vertical warp to the board which does not distort the painting at all. Note : Please not that due to Brexit and the pandemic shipping can sometimes take longer than usual. We always aim to ship within 3 days of the auctioneers confirming receipt of bidders payment. We will insure the painting for shipping but cannot guarantee the safe shipping of antique frames. Also please note that successful the bidder will be liable to pay all customs charges associated with the import into the country of destination which could include VAT or Import duties. Each EU country appears to be deciding their own charges as post-Brexit period extends and we also draw bidders attention to the fact that customs duties are varying from country to country as are delivery time-scales which are particularly slow in Germany and quite slow in Italy at present.
