Inca Textile Coca Bag w/ Strap
**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Incan Empire, ca. 1200 to 1532 CE. A large textile coca bag comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of chocolate, espresso, crimson, citrine, gold, coral, and tan. The bag is made from one large panel which has been folded over on itself and sewn along the lateral peripheries. The upper opening displays a colorful border of alternating red, yellow, and pink threads. A lengthy strap is attached to one end and exhibits a repeating series of abstract geometric and zoomorphic motifs. A lovely example! Size: 15.25" W x 12.5" H (38.7 cm x 31.8 cm).
