Incised celadon porcelain vase circa 1900
Large, striking either Chinese or Korean celadon vase that is reminiscent of the incised wares from the Northern Sung Chinese.
Heavily potted porcelain vase with incised floral scrolls and lines. Below the mouth are incised floral lappets. The base has the matching floral lappet design. The vase shape is ovoid with a lipped mouth. The base is raised with an unglazed foot ring. The base is glazed. The interior is also glazed. The glaze is unctuous and very smooth. There is glaze control as the glaze stops at the foot ring. The glaze color is a nice celadon green. It reminds me of the color glaze from the Yuan and Ming. The workmanship is professional with no flaws or mistakes.
There are no marks or labels.

12” (30.5 cm) tall x 9” (22.9 cm) diameter. Weighs 8 lbs 6.7oz (3.82 kg)
CONDITION
The vase has been drilled for a lamp. It has a plug in the base. There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There is very little wear and it shows off very well.
The Northern Sung wears had simple large incised designs, which are very clean and refreshing. This vase emulates that simple elegant style. The color also tries to emulate a wonderful jade color that was finally perfected in the Yuan and Ming. Simplicity and jade, how great is that?
