Incredibly rare set of 9 Book of Dead linen fragments

An incredibly rare set of 9 linen fragments bearing texts and illustrations from the Book of the Dead. Along with text, several of these fragments depict wonderful illustrations of various gods and goddesses, including Taweret and Thoth, as well as illustrations depicting a crocodile, bull, and funerary boat among others. Most often, Book of the Dead fragments are seen in papyrus, so this set of linen fragments is an incredibly rare find! Largest fragment: 13 7/8 in (35.3cm) x 3 in (7.7cm). Ex collection of Dr. Zvi Szubin, professor emeritus of classical studies, as well as comparative legal studies, at the City College of New York; previously acquired in Cairo in 1891.
