John Abbott, a native of Radford, Nottingham, served with the Derbyshire Regiment at home from 13 March 1884-14 December 1885 and latterly in India from 15 December 1885-7 April 1891. During that period he served on the Sikkim expedition in 1881 and was discharged on account of chronic synovitis to his left knee which had been caused by a severe fall in service. Abbott died in 1946; sold with copied service and discharge papers.
