Indian Matchlock Musket/Toradar
Indian Matchlock Musket/Toradar. The barrel measures 44-1/4'' and is held by six cord barrel bands which have been coated with lacquer or some type of varnish. The Musket is 63'' overall. The muzzle is in the shape of a cat's head, probably a tiger, with some remaining gilt with metal ramrod. The other end of the barrel has a seated Raja or King with a dog or cat on each side. There is some stippled writing ahead of the King. The match holder and priming pan with cover are all intake and functional. A match cord holder is attached to the right side of the metal lock assembly. The top and bottom of the receiver has shaped tangs. The stock and forearm are complete and in very good condition. This is an overall well preserved specimen showing some very light surface oxidation and wear. Provenance: Estate of William Kranker, collector and dealer, Greenport, NY.
