Indus Valley Jar with Antelopes
4th-3rd millennium BC. A ceramic jar with everted rim, band of painted ibexes and geometric panels to the shoulder. 1.8 kg, 23cm (9"). From the property of a London gentleman; previously in the private collection of the late David Gold, formed 1970s. David Gold amassed a sizable collection of Indus Valley pottery, both vessels and figurative during his retirement, a plaque to David and his brother was recently unveiled by Westminster Council above 43 Carnaby Street, commemorating their business that made Carnaby Street synonymous with fashion in the 1960s.
