Indus Valley Pottery Jar w/ Fish Motif

Ancient Near East / Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan / Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2300 to 1900 BCE. Pottery jar of cylindrical form with impressively thin walls that rise to a sharp shoulder edge, a concave shoulder, and an annular, raised rim. Adorned with black-on-red decoration, the charming vessel is hand-painted with a repeated fish motif with a zigzag border on the top and a trio of parallel bands along the bottom. The shoulder is additionally embellished by a lovely, striated pattern. Size: 5.7" Diameter x 3.5" H (14.5 cm x 8.9 cm)
