Infantry Assault Badge in bronze
Bronze-plated zinc, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves; at the top, the Army eagle with a swastika; in the centre, a 98-calibre carbine depicted at an angle with a fixed bayonet. On the reverse, a round non-ferrous metal pin with a barbed hook, which has been re-soldered. The wearer’s initials ‘K.H.’ are engraved, as is the date of award ‘26.4.42’. Weight 22 g. 61.8 x 47 mm. Shows signs of wear; the bronze plating is worn in places. Bronze version for units of machine-gun and anti-tank companies, and later for the Waffen-SS and the Ordnungspolizei.
