Inkwell - Golden metal - 19th century

[ translate ]

Inkwell in gilded metal (presumably bronze and brass) composed of a tray, two ink jars, one for ink-drier powder (probably at the time the upper part was unscrewed to let the powder in) , a pen holder and a wax stamp. Under one of two ink jars is an inscription (Stipo Capu) with the engraving of a woman's face in profile. The object is finely decorated and very elegant. The overall state of preservation is good, with just a few stains and slight signs due to ageing. Estimated period: first half of the 19th century. The inkwell can be compared with the one sold at the Cambi antique auction on February 28 / March 1, 2012 at no. 207.
