Isalys & Fairmont Steel Dairy Can

23 x 9 inches. Dated 1947. A mid-century American industrial storage canister of tall cylindrical form with a corresponding lid. The vessel is constructed from galvanized steel with a rolled top rim and a reinforced base seam. The body features an embossed inscription reading FAIRMONT over U S A - 45. On one side, a circular stamped seal is impressed with the text LIQUID 20 QUARTS around the upper arch and SUPERIOR around the lower arch; inside a central triangle are the characters S A, and below it is the phrase MADE IN U.S.A. The lid is fitted with a fixed metal strap handle. To one side of the handle, the lid is embossed ISALYS, and to the opposite side, the date 1947 is embossed. The interior is accessed via the removable friction-fit lid.
