In 2022 Dutch artist Iskander Walen began work on a new project entitled Life Is Sweet. The first works were a series of popsicles made using the old-fashioned home-made popsicles tray from his childhood. Trooper Popsicle is a Star Wars stormtrooper head encased in transparant colored resin on a wood popsicle stick. The base is a cast of the top part of the artist's hand, which serves to hold up the popsicle. Iskander Walen is an established artist whose work has been exhibited in many solo and group shows in Asia, Europe and North America. His paintings and sculptures are often infused with humor, while presenting an original take on societal discrepancies and contradictions.
