Islamic Glass Bowl - Blue Pattern Molded

Ancient Near East, Islamic, ca. 7th to 14th century CE. A stunning free-blown and pattern-molded glass bowl of breathtakingly beautiful azure blue glass, quite translucent in areas, while other areas present weathering film and encrustation that has developed over the course of history. Diagonal ribs radiate from the center of the concave base and bands of diagonally oriented ovals adorn the exterior walls. Nice purple and silvery iridescence grace the surface as well. Size: 6.375" in diameter x 2.625" H (16.2 cm x 6.7 cm)

Provenance: The Dere Family Collection, New York, USA, assembled 1970s-2000s; ex-Martin Wunsch Collection, New York, USA, acquired in 1980s

Weathering film and encrustation in areas. Marvelous translucency in other areas. Surface presents beautiful purple and silvery iridescence.
