Islamic Green Glass Amphoriskos w/ Colorful Exterior

Near East / Middle East, Islamic World, ca. 7th to 8th century CE. A petite free-blown amphoriskos with a spherical nubbin base, a slender body, a corseted neck line, a tall, flared neck, and a single applied strap handle. The vessel itself is comprised of emerald-green glass, and a thick applied layer of orange-hued glass details the exterior. Dozens of dark-grey and black spots that have developed over time further imbue this vessel with a leopard-like appearance. A striking example of Islamic-era glasswork! Size: 4.2" H (10.7 cm).
