Isobel Françoise Rodmell (Ilsa), French/British 1899–1972 - Mythological hunting scene; watercolour and ink on paper, signed lower right 'Ilsa Rodmell', 18.8 x 46.6 cm Provenance: the artist and thence by descent Note: Rodmell's fantastical work was collected and promoted by famed inter-war gallerist Lucy Wertheim. Solo exhibitions were held for the artist at the AIA Gallery, London in 1950 and the Hotel Alexandra, Hove in 1964. Her work is in the collection of the Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne, where it was recently exhibited as part of the acclaimed exhibition 'A Life in Art: Lucy Wertheim, Patron, Collector, Gallerist', which also included works by Christopher Wood, Frances Hodgkins and Cedric Morris.
